Unlike a land-based trip, where stores are easily accessible for anything you might have forgotten, shopping is limited on a cruise ship and also in most ports. TravelHost, a website and magazine that seeks to help make travel easy and accessible for everyone, recently reported on three essential items most cruisers forget to pack — and why forgetting them could cost you money, comfort, or even get you quarantined.
Here are three often-forgotten items that the experts at TravelHost say can make or break your cruise experience:
Comfortable shoes that can get wet. This is especially important if you have planned a beach excursion while in port. Just make sure your shoes do not trap a lot of sand and can be rinsed off.
Over-the-counter medicines. Savvy travelers know to bring along medications to help them if they get a stomachache, headache, seasickness, etc. The ship’s store and infirmary will have many of these over-the-counter medicines, but they will be expensive. Plus, if you’re suffering, especially after hours, you will not want to go searching for relief.
Extra socks and underwear. No one wants to spend their vacation doing laundry. One set a day might not be enough, especially if you get sweaty or rained on while exploring the ports.
