About half of all Americans plan to travel this summer. If you will be one of them, you might want to take a closer look at these summer travel tips that experts shared with Apartment Therapy.
Depending upon where you’re going, you will experience summer heat and humidity. Keep that in mind when packing. You should keep make-up, medications, and even electronics with you, in an air-conditioned space, rather than in your luggage. Suitcases could sit for over an hour on a tarmac with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees, and even if you’re driving, the temperature in the trunk will be much hotter than inside the car.
If you are doing a lot of walking, consider using an anti-chafing stick. It can help prevent painful chafing from rubbing when you sweat, especially on your thighs and arms.
Don’t assume just because it’s summer, you don’t need a sweater or sweatshirt. You need to be prepared for heavy air conditioning. Airplanes are notoriously chilly, and when the temperatures rise, expect the AC to be cranked up in hotels, stores, and restaurants.
Be prepared for any emergency. This includes packing a first aid kit. It’s also a good idea to bring an extra change of clothes in your carry-on. You never know if the person sitting next to you on the plane is going to spill a drink in your lap. And, as is becoming common these days, airlines are known to lose luggage.
