Flight attendants are obviously frequent fliers. So, when one offers a trusted travel tip you know it will be good. According to Newsweek, one flight attendant’s safety tip went viral on social media after she shared a simple way to protect your identity when traveling.
Her simple advice? Just flip the personal information card on your luggage bag tag backward so that strangers can’t see your name, home address, or phone number. In addition to protecting your identity, you don’t want anyone to know you are going to be away and try to break into your house. (For the same reason, you don’t want to post your travel plans on social media.)
The travel agent did point out that by following her advice, even if your bag is lost, whoever finds it can easily flip the card around to get your contact information. If you’re concerned, you can even write “flip over” on the card so people know the information is there, just not readily visible.
Some commenters shared their own travel safety tips such as putting a card with your contact information inside your luggage just in case the luggage tag comes off.
