Let’s face it, travel is not easy. Fortunately, you probably already own one key travel tool that can make everything from packing to figuring out how to navigate a new city much simpler. A CyberGuy Report by Fox News explains how five native (built-in) iPhone apps and/or features can make your next trip easier and safer, especially if you are traveling internationally. The article even offers step-by-step instructions on how to access and use each one.

Notes App – This is the perfect place to create packing lists or sightseeing lists of places you don’t want to miss during your trip. You can make the list “checkable” or even share it with your travel companions.

Translate App – No need to carry around a dictionary these days when your smartphone can quickly translate for you. This highly useful app allows you to speak into a microphone and then translate what you are saying to another language, or you can type in text and it will not only give you the translation but also “speak” it.

Text Scanner – Newer iPhone models allow you to scan text using the camera feature. You can then tap translate if you want to read it in another language.

Location Sharing – Provide peace of mind to friends and family back home by using this iPhone feature. You can select which of your contacts you want to share with and for home long. This feature can also be helpful to use with your travel companions in case you get separated.

Emergency Services – This is something everyone should know about, even if you are not traveling. According to the article, the “In Case of Emergency” shortcut under Settings provides a quick and easy way to alert your trusted contacts and let them know where you are and how they can help you should you find yourself in an emergency or dangerous situation.
