Travel costs have been increasing lately, but there are still plenty of ways to save. The Vincennes Sun-Commercial in Indiana put together a short video highlighting hacks that travel experts use to keep costs down, which means more money to spend at your destination. Here are some of their top tips:
- To save on airfare and for greater flexibility, consider purchasing two one-way tickets instead of one round-trip.
- Use travel booking sites for research to find the best routes and fares, but you should book directly on the airline website to avoid fees.
- If you fly a lot, consider getting a credit card affiliated with an airline for perks like free baggage and possible upgrades.
- Bring snacks with you so you are not tempted to buy high-priced airport food.
- While you can’t bring beverages through security, you should bring your own water bottle and use water refilling stations or fountains.
- Air travel is not the time to be spontaneous. Booking flights at least two weeks in advance gets you the best deals.
- If you travel a lot, consider investing in TSA PreCheck or Global Entry. They will save you precious time at security and many travel credit cards will cover the fees.
