Forget diet and exercise; the secret to good health may be as simple as taking a vacation. An article by Travel Noire shares findings from an Australian study that found positive travel experiences might be the “fountain of youth.”
The findings revealed that positive travel experiences can help the body regulate good health, aka a “low-entropy state,” while negative travel experiences often increase entropy and can lead to health issues. Entropy is defined as “a universal law describing a natural progression from order to disorder.”
Additionally, the study showed that leisurely vacationing could lower stress resulting in positive physical benefits. For example, physical activities done while traveling such as walking or cycling can positively impact “metabolic health, bones, joints, muscles, and the body’s anti–wear-and-tear system.”
The researchers also found that the “body’s resilience gained through travel may lead to hormonal changes and can encourage self-healing.”
