Put away the bathing suit and pack your parka and hiking boots because the top travel destination for 2026 is Big Sky, Montana. Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo looked at flight and accommodation searches to rank the top ten global vacation destinations.
Big Sky, the Rocky Mountain town about an hour outside of Yellowstone National Park, took the top spot. According to an article by CNBC Make It, Big Sky has long been known as a world-class outdoor destination. It’s popular for skiing and snowboarding in the winter and hiking, mountain biking, and river rafting in the summer. It’s also attractive because of its evolving dining scene, family-friendly offerings, and cultural activities.
If you prefer sun and sand to snow, then you might want to check out Fort Walton Beach, Florida. This beach town in the Panhandle ranked No. 6 on the list of the top hot spots for travelers next year.
In case you were wondering, the other destinations on the list are Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Phu Quoc, Vietnam; Savoie, France; Ucluelet, Canada; Cotswolds, United Kingdom; San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; and Hobart, Australia.
