Spooky season is upon us. One of the best ways to get into the Halloween spirit is by visiting a haunted location. Hertz has come up with a list of six places where ghosts and ghouls rule.

The car rental company recommends visiting one of America’s most haunted attractions from coast to coast:

Famous for the Salem Witch Trials of the 17th century, Salem, Massachusetts, is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in America’s haunted past. Every October, this New England town transforms into “Witch City,” where haunted houses, historic tours, and Halloween festivals provide the perfect mix of eerie and enchanting.

Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, housed more than 85,000 prisoners during its heyday, including the notorious “Scarface” Al Capone. America’s most historic prison hosts a ten-acre Halloween festival each year featuring spooky historic tours, immersive walk-through experiences, live haunted houses and more.

When it comes to thrills and chills, the Field of Screams in Mountville, Pennsylvania, stands out as a blood-curdling, hair-raising adventure. Do not miss the Haunted Hayride through a creepy cornfield on a tractor-pulled wagon or the spine-chilling Frightmare Asylum.

Bell Witch Cave is located about 40 minutes from Nashville in Adams, Tennessee. One of the best ways to experience the supernatural presence is by taking a haunted hayride deep into the cursed woods of the Bell Witch Farm.

You’ll need to be brave to survive a night at the Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada. It’s packed with more than 2,000 clown figurines and eerie dolls. If that’s not scary enough, there is an old cemetery right next door.

The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California, is “enshrouded in a ghoulish charm, with staircases that lead to nowhere, hidden doors and even a séance room.”
