Our travel packing lists have changed dramatically because of COVID-19. Now you would never dream of leaving home without a supply of anti-bacterial wipes and fresh face masks. But, as HuffPost discovered, doctors say there are 10 essential items you should always pack when traveling. They will help support your physical and mental health and well-being.

Doctors say don’t leave home without these important everyday items:

  1. Toothbrush & toothpaste – oral hygiene is important
  2. Neck pillow – a sturdy neck pillow can be a lifesaver on long fights or car rides as they help prevent neck pain
  3. Sunscreen – whether going to the beach or skiing – or even city sightseeing – always wear sunscreen
  4. Compression socks – these can help prevent foot swelling that occurs when you have to sit still for a long period of time, such as on a plane or road trip
  5. Eye mask – getting a good night’s sleep is important for your overall health so be sure to pack a black-out mask so you can get your shuteye no matter how bright it is outside
  6. Fresh fruit – this is a healthy snack to eat while traveling and a nutritious and cheaper alternative to fast-food or salty/sugary packaged snacks
  7. Headphones – traveling can be stressful, but listening to music can help keep you calm; a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will let you listen to audiobooks or binge watch uninterrupted
  8. Notebook & pen – journaling is a great way to remember the details of your trip, but it also allows you to practice mindfulness and gratitude exercises for mental health
  9. Reusable water bottle – it’s important to stay hydrated while traveling and a refillable bottle is environmentally friendly; look for water bottle filling stations in many major airports
  10. Pain relievers – pack your over-the-counter medicines because you never know when a headache or minor injury will occur
