Nowadays, it seems everyone has some sort of travel hack they swear by. Some are tried and true while others may seem a bit too quirky and not worth the effort. The New York Times called upon its readers and frequent travelers to share some of their best tricks and we’ve picked out a few of our favorites to pass along to you.

Color coordinate – When flying, avoid leaving anything behind by choosing brightly colored items for sunglass cases, phone charging cords or Kindle covers.

Pack a power strip – With all the electronics we rely on these days, hotel rooms are often not equipped with enough outlets for all your charges. If you bring a power strip, you can charge all your items at once and keep everything accessible. Nothing is worse than leaving behind a charge you plugged in behind a chair or table.

Take signage photos – A great way to keep track of all your vacation photos is to create a photo bookmark. The idea is to take a photograph of the entrance or identification sign before you start taking pictures of the site or location. This way you know exactly where you were and its significance. This is invaluable when creating a photo album book to remember your trip, or even sharing vacation pictures with loved ones.
